Myrna K. Burkes grew up in the midwest, married a Texan, raised three children and currently has eight grandchildren. She received a degree in Marketing/Management from UTSA (The University of Texas @ San Antonio) and worked as a sales representative for a large corporation...later she owned her own business. The author went back to school at UTSA to become certified to teach Elementary School and later obtained a Master's Degree from OLLU (Our Lady of the Lake University) as a certified Reading Specialist. She retired from education several years ago, began journaling and the result was her first novel "Mistakes and Opportunities". Myrna was amazed to find she had developed a following of readers and was encouraged to continue writing. "The Caradan Trilogy" was born with her second novel, "Another Day in Paradise" , followed by "A Special Kind of Girl".  The author uses real life experiences and unfortunately often tragedies as ideas for her stories. Her fourth book was created when she sat beside a young soldier on a plane ride to Atlanta. He was missing his arm and after sharing his Afghanistan experiences, was pleased when she suggested her story wheel was turning for her next book. Laura's Soldier", the first book in a new series called "Caradan-The Next Generation" followed. Myrna is currently working on the next novel in the series called "Where The Heart Is" and when not researching and writing, spends her time painting and gardening. She has also found her purpose through Delta Kappa Gamma,  a professional honor Society of key women educators worldwide and Beta Tau, a local Texas Chapter.  She loves time with her husband and family and feels blessed to have the opportunity to travel between her home in San Antonio and their small ranch in Central Texas. It is an escape to what she calls her happy place, second only to reading a good book. A place where she nourishes body and soul and becomes one with nature.
